International Conference Electricity for a Sustainable Urban Development

1 - 4 November, Lisbon, Portugal

The Conference will be concerned with the role of electricity in the development of the cities in the 21st century, towards an energy efficient and environmentaly sustainable economy. It will be based in six major themes, all related to cities:

• Residential Buildings
• Non-residential buildings
• Small and medium-sized industries
• Transport and outdoor comfort
• Quality of electricity supply in the point of use
• Global actions

This Conference will bring together experts from around the world from utilities, energy agencies and universities, to present and discuss the latest development on energy efficient design, electricity end-use technologies, policies and programs. The Conference will be held in the site of the 1998 World Exhibition EXPO '98, which is in itself a showcase of energy-efficient urban design. The Conference will include technical visits and a social program with visits to famous touristic sites.

The Conference is organized by UIE - International Union of Electricity Application and EDP - Electricidade de Portugal.
