Electronic Control Gear for Improved Illumination and Greater Economy R.B. Groll Siemens Lighting Systems Division, Germany J.M. Stenzel Siemens Lighting Systems Division, Germany Abstract In the future the lighting market will be characterised by an increasing light awareness and a continuous trend for the saving of energy. With energy consumption remaining at the same level the natural resources of oil and coal will be exhausted in the forthcoming centenary. More and more importance will be gained by electronic control gears which help to save energy and contribute to a longer lamp lifetime and better illumination comfort by flicker free operation.
