Abstract
This paper presents an update of the progress of the Energy Saving Trust (EST) in implementing lighting energy efficiency schemes. The EST has been involved in developing many schemes in this area over the last four years, covering a very wide area. Several national schemes have had a significant impact in the domestic Compact Fluorescent Lamp (CFL) market. The challenge for the EST is to build on its successes and achieve long-term sustainable savings. The strategy for achieving this aim presently depends on greatly increased market penetration of dedicated-CFL domestic luminaires.
In the non-domestic sector, efforts have been directed towards installing energy efficient lamps in place of inefficient lamps and promoting high frequency lighting. Future schemes are intended to be more comprehensive, and may build on the US ?Green Lights? programme.
