Takayuki Kondo, Toshie Iwata, Ken-ichi Kimura

Abstract
Luminance distribution on a room surface is an essential element of information for the analysis of visibility or the evaluation of the visual environment. Recently picture analysis method has been adopted for the measurement of luminance distribution. CCD camera makes it possible to give information on the view field of a wide area instantaneously.
The method using video and still camera with CCD sensors has been developed, such as CapCalc system (M.S.Rea, 1990), and photographic photometry (Nakamura, 1976), it is examined the difference in sensitivity level between CCD sensor and human?s eye, the effects of target position in a visual field on the solid angle corresponding to the pixel, and the effects of position on the relation between luminance and signal level. Using CCD camera on the market, this system is more compact and make to be light and to be easy to carry. We attempted to apply this system to the assesment of a visual environment.
