New CFL with Exceptional Power Quality
An important example of advancements in CFL technology was recently presented by a small manufacturer in the United States.
Mitor Industries Inc. has developed a modular 13-Watt CFL (14,8 Watt including the ballasts) with an electronic adapter. They claim that the CFL's power quality is exceptional, with a power factor of 0,996 and only 7,5% total harmonic distortion (THD).
The new lamp has an efficacy of 61 lumens/watt. Mitor projects a price of US$ 9-10 for the adapter (excluding the tube). The adapter will accept either twin or quad tubes.
