Competitek becomes E Source

Since its "spin-off" as an independently-managed subsidiary of the Rocky Mountain Institute in April 1992, the Competitek information service on electric efficiency has introduced new report formats and major changes regarding its membership services. The company also has chosen the name E Source.

Member organizations from around the world are offered a "one-stop resource for timely, unbiased, experience-based information on the most efficient ways to use electricity".

Information on efficient technologies is delivered to members through bimonthly mailings, detailed reports, periodic conferences and seminars, and on-site consultation.

E Source recently released a 540-page report entitled The State of the Art: Space Cooling and Air Handling, which documents technologies and programs that can lead to 70-80% energy savings in cooling and ventilation systems for commercial buildings. Current research projects include work on advanced motor systems, energy-efficient office equipement, and new developments in efficient lighting.
