Philips introduces tri-tube CFLs
The Philips electronically ballasted CFL product range, PLCE, will undergo a name change as tri-tube CFLs (i.e., three arched tubes) are introduced in the 15, 20 and 23-W versions. The 7 and 11-W lamps will be called PLE-C, and remain in quad-tube version (i.e., two arched tubes). The higher-wattage tri-tube lamps will be referred to as PLE-T, and their length diminishes from 158 to 124 mm (15W), 190 to 143 mm (20W), and 211 to 158 mm (23W).
