On The US Agenda

Standards are one method that governments use to effect a change in the way energy is utilized. Even if standards are voluntary, they can still signigicantly impact the product line of manufacturers whose equipment fails to meet the standards. "Luminaire efficacy ratings", and voluntary standards based on those ratings, are currently under conisderation in the US.
Manufacturer Rebates: The Win-Win Approach
US-based Southern California Edison has developed a new approach, with rebates given directly to the compact fluorescent lamp manufacturers. Prices have fallen drastically, and lamps have become much more available.
