The Sulfur Lamp:
Promising Artificial Sunlight

Sulfur has always been avoided by lighting manufacturers because of its tendency to react with filaments and electrodes in light sources. However, sulfur in a tiny bulb energized by microwave power could be the key to an efficient, electrodeless lamp providing a continuous, full-color spectrum.
A Light Subject For a Billion People
In China, the output equivalent to that of about sixty 250-MW power plants is devoted to lighting. Demand will grow rapidly. With nearly one-quarter of the World's population and the third largest economy in rapid expansion, China has a hearty appetite for light and is already one of the World's largest producers and consumers of lighting products.
