At the Hannover Light Fair, Osram showed the worldÕs first true "Incandescent look-alike CFL" with the same dimensions as a standard incandescent GLS lamp. Previous incandescent look-alike CFLs have all been larger than GLS lamps.
The lamp comes in Osram's Longlife range with a 12 000 h rated life. This does not mean, however, that all CFLs can now be produced in the size of incandescents. So far, Osram has only managed to produce a 5-W CFL equal in size to a GLS. This is equivalent to a 20-25 W incandescent. Higher wattage incandescent look-alike CFLs are still not true look-alikes.
