IAEEL newsletter 2/97
Editor's Corner
IAEEL took shape gradually. No one can say exactly when the organization was established, although the idea was raised during the first Right Light Conference in Stockholm in 1991. About one year later, in the summer of 1992, the first issue of the IAEEL Newsletter was published.
Therefore, in the summer of 1997, we are proud to see our newsletter celebrate its five-year anniversary.
During the five years of the newsletter's existence, it has developed into a more complex and, we hope, an even more valuable product for our readers.
The lighting world is so large that it is impossible to keep track of all the developments. Nevertheless, in this issue we try to give a snap-shot of the major developments in the lighting world, mainly as reflected at the Hannover Fair, the world's largest lighting trade fair.
We make an attempt to cover some of the most important developments, especially regarding commercial applications. In the next issue, we will come back with an overview of developments in the CFL sector, both with regard to technology and the market situation.
We hope that you will enjoy this issue's long in-depth article on lighting design, together with a number of other short overviews of various areas. The last issue was only 8 pages long. Since the enclosed Right Light 4 invitation was so heavy, we had to cut back on the pages to save postage. To compensate, you get 16 fully packed pages this time.
Happy reading!
