Lighting ResourcesRight Light 4 (IAEEL 3-4/97) Efficiency in commercial buildings (IAEEL 3-4/97) Licht '96 (IAEEL 4/96) Last October, the 12th Biannual German-Language Lighting Conference "Licht '96" took place in Leipzig, Germany.
Lighting on the Internet (IAEEL 1/96) The mouse normally isn't considered to be the fastest creature on Earth, but pointing-and-clicking one along the information super-highway mobilizes resources on energy-efficient lighting faster than any other means available. CIE: with an eye on global lighting (IAEEL 1/96) The International Commission on Illumination- "CIE" - is an organization devoted to international cooperation and exchange of information among its member countries on all matters relating to the science and art of light and lighting. CIE-IAEEL workshop in Delhi (IAEEL 3-4/95) A workshop on Energy & Lighting was held at the International Commission on Illumination (CIE) 23rd Session in Delhi this past November. Right Light Three visited by 40 countries (IAEEL 2/95) The 3rd European Conference on Energy-Efficient Lighting, Right Light Three, has been the most international Right Light Conference so far, attracting participants from 40 countries. CIE committee with a focus on energy (IAEEL 1/95) Lighting design and utilization patterns have a considerable impact on the overall use of energy in a building. Hollow-light-guide committee (IAEEL 1/95) Interest in hollow light guides is growing. The CIE technical committee TC 3.30 now reports that more than 15 firms worldwide are developing hollow-light-guide systems. Support to economies in transition (IAEEL 2/94) Central planning and emphasis on heavy industry have left the countries of the former Soviet bloc and China among the least energy-efficient nations in the world. IEA launches daylighting research program (IAEEL 2/94) After a successful workshop held in Copenhagen last March, the International Energy Agency's (IEA) Solar Heating and Cooling Executive Committee decided to establish a new research program on daylight in buildings. Right Light II (IAEEL 3/93) The Second European Conference on Energy-Efficient Lighting, Right Light II, was held September 26-29 in Arnhem, the Netherlands. The conference was a truly international event with some 230 individuals representing 33 countries-and, in fact, all continents! "Electronic" more than ballasts (IAEEL 3/93)An electronic conference on lighting has been set up by Clay Belcher of the University of Kansas, USA, and Jonathan Hardis of the National Institute of Standards and Technology, USA. International DSM data-base (IAEEL 3/93) The International Energy Agency (IEA), with a group of its 23 OECD Member countries, has launched an "Implementing Agreement" on Technologies and Programs for Demand-Side Management. The DSM agreement is chaired by NUTEK, Sweden, which is also the host for the Annex on Technology Procurement. Competitek becomes E Source (IAEEL 1/93) The Competitek information service on electric efficiency has introduced new report formats and major changes regarding its membership services. The company also has chosen the name E Source. Compact on power quality and evaluation (IAEEL 1/93) Nearly 200 energy-efficiency experts gathered in San Diego for the California Compact's third annual Efficient Consumer Lighting Products Conference. Attendees represented a wide variety of backgrounds, including utilities, manufacturers, retailers, regulators, environmentalists, and academics. Electronic news on efficiency (IAEEL 1/93) A new international newsletter on energy efficiency issues in developing countries, Enews, is published with financial support from the International Energy Initiative (IEI) and the University of Campinas in Brazil. Third World Energy Grants (IAEEL 1/93) The Third World Academy of Sciences, with headquarters in Trieste, Italy, offers a range of grants and scholarships designed to support research, scientific meetings held in developing countries, and South-South exchange visits. EPRI focus on lighting (IAEEL 2/92) The lighting program of the US utility-supported Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) is growing at a fast pace. The aim of the EPRI Lighting Program is to assist in the development of new technologies and encourage member utilities to adopt them. Efficiency activities of the CIE (IAEEL 2/92) The International Commission on Illumination (CIE) wants to place more emphasis on lighting and has instructed its Division 7 to set up a reporter function covering "lighting energy efficiency and environmental issues". Results Center provides feedback (IAEEL 2/92) Successful demand-side management programs are rarely reported on. However, the newly established, US-based Results Center will serve to remedy this problem. California Compact (IAEEL 1/92) The California Compact is a working group composed of representatives from Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, Los Angeles Department of Water & Power, Natural Resources Defense Council, Pacific Gas & Electric, Sacramento Municipal Utility District, San Diego Gas & Electric, and Southern California Edison.
