through energy saving and traffic reduction. With a strategy of Participative
Social Marketing the Program seeks to stimulate citizen activity concerning
global warming.
- Novem(The Netherlands)
- Novem, the Netherlands Agency for Energy and the Environment, manages
a large number of national and international programmes financed by
the Dutch government and the European Union. The main objective of these
programmes is to save energy and improve the environment. Novem operates
essentially as an intermediary between the Dutch and European activities
and the Dutch business community.
- Nutek Lighting Procurements(Sweden)
- Since 1990, the Department of Energy Efficiency at the Swedish National
Board for Industrial and Technical Development (NUTEK) has been operating
an innovative technology procurement program in accordance with Swedish
Government policy on the restructuring of Sweden's energy system. The
program is focused on innovative technology procurement, demonstration
activities, and market introduction strategies to increase the market
shares of new, improved energy-efficient technologies. In the area of
lighting, these include lighting technologies and applications for homes,
offices, schools, industry, hospitals and outdoor installations.
- US Environmental Protection
Agency's Energy Star Buildings & Green Lights Program, (USA)
- U.S. Department of Energy«s
Federal Energy Management Program(USA)
- Information related to lighting retrofits for government facilities
is located in various parts of this site.
- The Joule-Thermie Program(Europe)
- The prime objective of the European Commission's JOULE-THERMIE Programme
is to improve energy security in the broadest sense - i.e. ensuring
durable and reliable energy services at affordable costs and conditions
- and, recognising that a major concern today is the protection of the
environment, to reduce the impact of the production and use of energy,
in particular CO2 emissions. JOULE-THERMIE merges both R&D and Demonstration
actions within one programme - which had previously been carried out
separately within the JOULE and THERMIE Programmes - and introduces
a new activity in support of an overall energy R&D strategy in the inter-disciplinary
area of energy-environment-economy.
