France behind?
We were surprised to see that France was not listed in "The Europe Top-12 in CFL sales " in your last issue of the newsletter (1/93). Did the study not include the French market?F. Francini

Reply: The penetration rate for CFLs (modular and integral together) is lower in France than in Belgium. After Ireland and Belgium (both no. 11), France would have been next, followed by Spain, Greece, Portugal, and Turkey. For integral CFLs, France still ends up as no. 13 after Belgium, where sales are ~30% higher than in France. Perhaps with EDF's growing interest in energy efficiency, France will join the "top-ten".
