The Market Impact of Objective Tests of Lighting Equipment

Abstract

Objective product information can help lighting decision makers specify lighting that satisfies the users. The National Lighting Product Information Program (NLPIP), established by government and electric utility groups to test and publish manufacturer-specific information on energy-efficient lighting products has completed its first two years of operation. This paper examines the initial evidence of NLPIP's impact on lighting specifiers and facility managers, manufacturers' products and advertising, utility incentive and educational programs, and codes and standards.
