Summary
The aim of this study is to investigate the way of providing a good visual perception on the surfaces which have mirror effect, in other words reflection problems. The reflection problems are similar to the table-top showcases with on the screen of the computers. The luminance contrast between ceiling and light source or luminaire in glazing showcases or on the screen of computer are so troublesome. This contrast must be reduced.
In the first stage of this study, the lighting systems are examined one by one to decide which are suitable to this aim. The optimal solutions can be obtained in these lighting systems:-
Lighting by using floor standard lamp (indirect lighting)
- Lighting from ceiling (semi-indirect lighting)
- Lighting by using table or floor standard lamp (semi-indirect lighting)
- Lighting by using narrow angled luminaires (direct lighting)
- Lighting by luminous ceiling (direct lighting)
After the consideration of these solutions, two of them seem applicable either theoretically and practically. The rest can have some troubles in application process. Lighting system due to using narrow-angled luminaires can provide perfect visibility only for table-top showcases, but not for the screen of the computers. With the system called "the semi-direct lighting from ceiling", we can attain the optimal applicable solutions. The calculations and measurements are necessary in this part. In addition to the calculation and measurements, the answer of this question "How can the luminance difference approach to each other?" is given at the last part of this study.
