Sunlight Shading for Offices Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, Dortmund Germany Abstract The fundamentals of daylighting have been well known for some time. Nevertheless they are no longer adhered to in the era of open-plan offices. While occupants of modern office workplaces and screen work areas require protection from the effects of glare and heat radiation caused by direct sunlight exposure, they still have to maintain visual access to daylight. These conflicting specifications can only be accommodated by the systematic application of sunlight shading.
